Kevin Gates’ music catalog sale is now a source of support payments in his divorce from Dreka Gates. A financial order allocates more than $1 million to his estranged wife while directing how the sale proceeds are held and distributed, according to reporting on the court documents.

The allocation includes $929,341.50 for child and spousal support and a separate $150,000 payment to Dreka, Baller Alert reported October 21, citing documents obtained by TMZ. It also sets payments for Kevin and professionals working on the case.

Dreka helped build the career behind the asset

Dreka’s connection to Kevin’s music business predates the divorce. In an April 2016 interview with The Source, she described learning the industry while helping him turn recording at his grandmother’s home into a professional career.

The outlet identified her as a co-founder of Bread Winners’ Association and one of his booking managers. She said she read about the business, sought advice and studied how other Baton Rouge artists advanced.

Her work included approaching promoters who booked established acts and trying to get Kevin onto their stages. The account places her inside the development of the business whose catalog is now generating divorce-related payments.

That history provides context for the financial conflict without establishing a separate ownership percentage. The current reported allocation is for support and other specified payments; it is not a public valuation of every contribution made during their relationship.

The catalog money goes into a managed account

The sale proceeds must be deposited into a Morgan Stanley account overseen by the finance executive at Kevin’s record-label business, with certified public accountant William Duerksen added as an authorized individual, according to XXL’s account of the documents.

Kevin is allocated $538,798 upfront and $225,000 a month beginning in October. The reported order also provides $125,000 for Dreka’s legal team, $100,000 for her accountant and $103,000 for mediation.

The published accounts do not identify the catalog buyer or the overall sale price. The disclosed distributions therefore cannot be used to work out either spouse’s share of the entire catalog’s value.

The order also distinguishes access to money from authority over the account. Complex reported that Kevin would not be an authorized individual on it, a restriction also described by Wealth of Geeks. Receiving scheduled distributions does not put him in charge of administering the sale proceeds.

The financial dispute has lasted more than a year

Dreka filed for divorce in Los Angeles on July 30, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. Her filing sought spousal support, attorney fees and shared custody of their two children, Islah and Khaza.

She listed a July 2025 separation date. Subsequent accounts have included different positions about the relationship and financial support, underscoring why the original filing and later statements should not be treated as interchangeable.

By October 2025, Dreka was seeking more than $70,000 a month in child and spousal support. XXL reported her allegation that Kevin had stopped paying certain family expenses in 2021. Kevin has disputed being an unsupportive father and claimed their marriage was not legally binding.

The public conflict also included accusations by Kevin that Dreka took money from him. Her attorney rejected those allegations as false, Baller Alert reported. Those claims remain the parties’ competing accounts, rather than conclusions supplied by the catalog-sale order.

The new financial development provides a specific mechanism for payments while the divorce continues: support and professional costs are allocated from the sale, and Kevin receives an upfront distribution followed by monthly payments. The reporting does not specify how long those monthly distributions will continue.
