Robin Williams' Daughter Renews Plea for Fans to Stop AI Videos of Late Actor: 'Have Some Shame'

Zelda Williams is again asking people to stop creating and circulating AI-generated videos of her late father, Robin Williams. Her latest response came after a supposed private video began circulating online that appeared to show the actor discussing conspiracy theories, a clip she said was artificial and did not convincingly reproduce his voice.

A New Video Triggered the Latest Response

According to People and Variety, Zelda said the circulating clip was clearly AI and criticized people who use her father’s image and voice to make arguments he never made. She urged those creating the material to let him rest and wrote that his death did not make him available for others to use as a digital puppet.

The issue is especially personal because Robin Williams died in 2014, leaving his family to repeatedly confront new digital recreations of him. The latest video brought the same concern back into public view more than a decade after his death.

This Is Not the First Time She Has Asked Fans to Stop

Zelda made a similar request in October 2025, when she asked people not to send her AI videos of her father. At the time, she said she did not want to see those recreations and rejected the idea that they were a meaningful tribute.

Variety reported that the concern has continued as Robin Williams’ likeness has remained a frequent target for synthetic video and voice recreations. The latest statement therefore was not a new position, but a renewed response to material that she says keeps resurfacing despite previous objections.

His Family Has Been Trying to Push Back Against AI Misuse

The dispute has also moved beyond one viral clip. Variety reported that Zelda and her brothers, Zak and Cody Williams, recently revived their father’s Instagram account in part to push back against what they described as repeated AI abuse of his voice and likeness.

That gives the latest plea a broader family context. Instead of reacting to a single isolated post, the Williams family is dealing with an ongoing stream of synthetic content that can make a deceased performer appear to say or do things he never recorded.

The Fight Is About Who Gets to Control a Legacy

Robin Williams remains one of the most recognizable comedians and actors of his generation, which also makes his likeness especially valuable to creators trying to attract attention online. For his daughter, that recognition is precisely why the repeated recreations have become a problem rather than a tribute.

Her latest message leaves the central conflict unresolved: AI tools can now reproduce the appearance and voice of a famous person long after death, while the person’s family may have little control over how those recreations spread. Zelda’s response makes clear that, at least in her father’s case, the family does not view that use as harmless nostalgia.
