Takeoff died without a will, leaving an estate that has been reported at about $26 million. A separate family dispute now centers on how a confidential wrongful-death settlement tied to his killing should be divided between his mother and father.

A Georgia probate court scheduled a Sept. 21 hearing on the allocation fight. Takeoff’s father, Kenneth Ball, is seeking half of the settlement, while his mother, Titania Davenport, is opposing that split.

How the Settlement Dispute Started

Davenport filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in 2023 against the Houston venue where Takeoff was killed. The suit alleged that 810 Billiards & Bowling failed to provide adequate security for the private event he attended.

The venue and its co-owners later reached a settlement for a confidential amount. Because the amount has not been publicly disclosed, the settlement should not be confused with the separate estimate of Takeoff’s estate value.

Ball joined the wrongful-death case as an intervenor in December 2023. According to reporting on the court filings, he argues that he is entitled to a share of the recovery as Takeoff’s father.

What Takeoff’s Mother Is Arguing

Davenport’s filings challenge the idea that the settlement should simply be split equally. AllHipHop reported that her position emphasizes the role she played raising Takeoff and alleges that Ball provided little financial or emotional support during his son’s life.

Those statements are part of the legal dispute and should be presented as allegations from her filings, not as an independent finding by the court. Ball’s request for a share is now for the probate court to evaluate under the law that governs the allocation.

The No-Will Issue Is Related, but Not the Same Fight

Takeoff’s death without a will created separate questions about the distribution of his estate. The current Sept. 21 hearing, however, concerns the wrongful-death settlement rather than a public ruling that divides the entire reported $26 million estate.

The reported $26 million estate estimate and the confidential settlement are separate pools of money. The Sept. 21 hearing concerns allocation of the settlement, not a public division of the full estate.

What Happens Next

The Georgia probate hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21, 2026. Unless the dispute is resolved before then, the court will consider the competing positions over how the settlement should be allocated.

Takeoff, whose legal name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was 28 when he was killed in Houston on Nov. 1, 2022. The criminal case connected to his death is separate from the probate dispute over settlement money.
